there is no show at the silver dollar this evening
i have been done in by semantics and the power of suggestion. have you ever had an incorrect notion enter your head and then been surprised by how stubbornly it tried to hold on in the face of the contradictory truth?
phil klygo sent me a note on my facebook wall last saturday. asking me to play on his weewerk show, july 26th. before mentioning the date he asked if i " might be avail/interested in capping this sat. nite." he then could have said capping this "bill", or capping this "show", but he said THIS SAT. NITE.
reading this, i thought to myself, he's talking about "this saturday night". let's see, i have a don vail show this thursday the 26, so this saturday night must be the 28th. he's had a cancellation and needs a band short notice.
the very next line of the email said "SAT july 26th = (weewerk) presents @ the silver dollar"
here's where the cruel hand of semantics enters the scene. when i read THIS SAT. NITE i decided then and there that the show was sat. june 28th. so when i saw the next line, it wasn't too hard to see june instead of july (first two letters are the same) and 28 instead of 26 (bottom of 6 and 8 identical on my facefook font). remember, i wasn't reading to find out the date of the show (i had already falsely worked out the date when i read "THIS SAT. NITE") i was reading this line to CONFIRM that the show was june 28.
it is interesting to note (interesting to me, the idiot who posted an incorrect date on his myspace page) that june and july are the two months closest to each other in spelling. that is to say, if this had happened a month later, it's doubtful that after assuming the date was in july i would not have noticed that it said august. similarly, if the correct date was, say the 19th, i probably wouldn't have looked at that number and thought, yes, that is the number 28.
i certainly can't blame phil for this. he never intended to be misleading, and ACTUALLY HAD THE CORRECT DATE ON THE EMAIL, which i conveniently misread.
all this being a long-winded apology for anyone inconvenienced by my unforgivable posting of an incorrect show date. the priddle concern will close the show, SAT. JULY 26th.
if you're there and you came tonight, come talk to me and i'll try and make it up to you.
once more to recap:
I AM AN IDIOT
THERE IS NO PRIDDLE CONCERN SHOW SAT. JUNE 28
THERE IS A PRIDDLE CONCERN SHOW SAT. JULY 26

cd release @ the horseshoe tavern
so today is the release of my record. it's been a long time coming. some of the songs were written as early as 1996, but most of them in 2003 or 2004. recording them was done by early 2006. i suppose in a lot of ways this is the record i've been wanting to make my whole life. i guess that's putting a lot of pressure on these poor songs, but i think they just may be up to the task. we'll be on stage at 10pm. hope you can make it to hear the new songs.
stream the new album now
If you'd like to sample the record, I've set up a page here where you can stream all the tracks in their entirety.
